So hows the beetle going?
That’s a good question. I guess its going good. But good isint good enough right now. I want great. Cause Im running out of time and out of money.
I no sooner returned from China to get my car back from B+B ( my mechanic) . It only had cost about 80 bucks to fix the backfireing and I was thrilled. I had done everything in my power to stop it, tio no avail. It turns out I had a manifold exhaust leak, making it suck in air, and explode the gasses in the pipes. Well affter a day of driving it I broke it in White family style, and began driving it to Charlotte. Now for all you people with nice cars. Maybe an hour and a half commute isint so bad for you. But when your in a car from the 60s and its all you can do to drive at 75 its pretty rough. I mean my bug is fast for a bug. Its quick as probably most cars today…. In low gear. It dosnt have that highend speed really. I mean, I keep up, but its frusterating. And I think a major reason for that is cause when im going 75 it FEELS like 75!! I mean, the corner of my eyes are pulling back from the g force. But in the space ship sealed, cars today, 75 feels like 35.
Oh and air conditiong. Oh man. Doing that commute with out air, is well, not the most fun thing Ive done… But Im used to it.
But the brakes are what get me. Oh they work fine. But not for this race, race , race to the stop light, then everyone slams on there brakes! A VW beetle, when you do that, slides. 1 no anti lock breaks, 2 no power brakes, 3 Im sure I need new brakes any way!!
But the fun was short lived, cause affter a week of high reving, air cooled fun, the bug was back fireing loudly, Proudly, as I crused down 77. And it seems that that ring job is approaching faster and faster… as I see more smoke than I used to. Fun.
Well, today, kids, the beetle, is finaly supposed to be done. By the way, it’s the same problem as last time. And Im thinking, what about the smoke. I wonder if it will be as bad.. I wonder If I should fix it…. If I do though I WILL put in all the performance parts.
But heres the plan as of now.
1)Get bug back
2)Install amp and wires
3)Finish body work
4)Paint, either home job or Macco, etc.
5)Neon? Flame exhaust? Custom flame designs? I don’t know.
But heres the thing. Step 6 will definatly make the bug an awesome ride. I really want all that stuff, but stuff costs money. But Im thinking, I could afford all that stuff for the price of the Engine mods… hmm. Choices.
I know you were all waiting on the edge of your seat for that, and now you know. What do you all think?
I mean, I know that the rings will need fixed eventualy, and I may not have close to the money to upgrade when they go. That means much, MUCH more speed and power. It really would e the Bonzai Beetle! Or should I get it all “pimped out” (sorry scott)
